About This Episode

In this episode, Ronnie and Tom continue their five-part series on creative ideas you can use during the 2019 Compliance Week.

In this Part 3, we introduce the use of contests and games. In this episode we discuss some of these ideas can be used to help make your compliance team and your compliance function more approachable. Tom and Ronnie both agree that Compliance Week initiatives must be followed up throughout the year.

Some of the ideas include:

  • Why not try a scavenger hunt through your compliance policies and procedures? You can put some fun easter eggs in different parts of the Code and have them look for it and report back. This would teach employees where to go to find out information relevant to compliance.
  • What about prizes for employees?
  • Some of the types of contests include a Lip Sync Contest and Two Truths & a Lie contest.
  • All of this should be designed to allow your employees to get to know your compliance team.

Observations from the ECI IMPACT & Compliance Week Conferences

We just finished up spring ethics and compliance season! I very much enjoy attending these events and hobnobbing with the community…however, I found this years events to be a bit puzzling. The vast majority of time was spent on things like AI, ESG, Data, etc, i.e. the shiny new objects du jour. It feels like we took our eye off the ball. There were almost no sessions focused on the most important thing…how to impact behaviors. Here are some of my observations.
